Guild Wars
If you have never heard of the computer game Guild Wars before, I suggest you have a look at their website. Its a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) that’s free! Unlike World of Warcraft and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, which have monthly fees.
I’m a long time player of Guild Wars and I absolutely love it! It has a great mix of PVE (Player Versus Environment) and PVP (Player Versus Player) also GVG (Guild Versus Guild). The level cap is set at 20 that gives the game a nice balance, I found that the game isn’t about grinding, which is the case for most MMORPG’s, but more about skill. You can only have 8 skills with you at anyone one time, so choosing which ones you want before you go questing or entering a mission can be quite important. The only playable race is human, however there are 6 professions to choose from which are: Warrior, Ranger, Monk, Mesmer, Necromancer and Elementalist. Later on as you progress to level 20 you can choose to have a secondary profession and which allows you to mix skills from both of the professions.
Over the years Guild Wars have released expansion packs which can be played as stand-alone, you don’t need the original game to play them.
With the release of each new expansion pack barring one, gives you 2 more professions, more skills, armor, weapons, quests, missions and a new continent to explore.
Factions which brought to the plate, Assassin and Ritualist professions. The new area Cantha and AB (Alliance Battles) which is a larger scale of PVP. You can choose between two factions Kurzick and Luxon and battle it out in AB (great fun I must say!).
Nightfall is a favourite expansion pack of mine, with Dervish and Paragon professions and another new area called Elona. What made this special to me was the fact that Guild Wars introduced customisable heroes that level up, follow your instructions in combat and use equipment and skills that you choose. New PVP type, one v one called hero battles is a regular for me.
Final expansion pack that was released Eye of the North mainly for level 20 characters, did not include any new professions, but more skills, quests and some really cool multi-level dungeons! A hall of monuments was introduced to show off to other players your achievements. Like your best armor, titles, weapons and pets that you acquired over time.
Guild Wars over the years has really evolved into an incredible game that just can’t help but to be played!
Guild Wars 2
Now there isn’t a great deal of information on this yet, not even a beta testing date but when I find out I’ll let you know. From what I can tell there will be 5 playable races which are: Asura, Charr, Human, Norn and Sylvari. Each with a distinct advantage and disadvantage, damage and other info on that, I have not found, but I will! Apparently there will be two types of PVP in Guild Wars 2, World PVP and Structured PVP. Control system of the character is to be changed so jumping and swimming will be available and possibly other actions. The skill set is going to be changed so that skills aren’t so complex and could be effected with different movement of the character.
World PVP
Will be for any level of character, from what I have found out it will be a larger scale type of PVP that could benefit your world, as in better health and energy regeneration but not sure on details as of yet.
Structured PVP
Would most probably be similar to that of GVG, with skills, armor and weapons unlocked through your PVE character.
I’m really looking forward to the release of Guild Wars 2 and my expectations are set quite high so let’s hope they pull something really magical out of the hat!
I’ve found out that Wii video games are really the must have this year and I predict its going to be the same for 2009! Why? You might ask. Well quite simply put, they are so much fun to play. You can play together with your friends or even have your family join on in the fun!
“But I don’t have a Nintendo Wii console!”
Well thats just shocking news! Seriously though, I think its a great games console with a unique way to play some of your old favourite games. Especially with the wii controller its just fantastico as they say…I think they say that… Hmmm. Nintendo Wii Console (Includes Wii Sports)
You can also get Wii Sports with this package deal! Played that round my friends and thought WOW!
Anyways enough of me rambling on about that, lets get down to some of the great nintendo wii video games about.
MarioKart (Wii)
I’ve read alot of reviews for this already and what people have said really makes this game stand out quite a bit!
Beautiful graphics, soundtrack has some excellent catchy tunes that get stuck in your head. It has a long playability to it with loads of modes to play and alot to unlock! All of your favourite characters are in it: Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Donkey Kong and Bowser to name a few. Theres just so much too this Wii game its hard to write it all in!
