Advanced Web info
Junior Polar Traveller is a fun and stimulating website for parents, teachers and children interested in learning about the importance of the polar regions. The site offers a number of educational resources in a playful setting and encourages interactive learning. This includes information on the Artcic and Antarctic, climate change, and global warming. There are also tips on how individuals can help curb climate change as well as link to other useful resources. The site is intended as a fun educational resource.
The Junior Polar Traveller website was designed based on input from Andrew Regan's sons, Sam, Jojo, and Alex. The three recently accompanied him on a trip to the North Pole. Another site- www.transantarcticexpedition.com- has also been launched in conjunction with the upcoming Moon-Regan Trans Antarctic Expedition. The Expedition will be lead by Andrew Regan and Andrew Moon.
This site will track the Trans Antarctic teams progress using live webfeeds and blogs, as well as giving information about the expedition itself.
As Regan explains: "One of the key aims of our expedition is to raise awareness of Antarctica’s environmental importance and the challenges that the region faces.Â
As part of the expedition the team will be conducting educational scientific experiments to highlight the extremities of climate conditions in the Antarctic region.
The experiments and expedition details will also be made available to be used by teachers in outreach programmes.
