Windsor Tourist Guides, professional Blue Badge tour guides for visitors to Windsor/Windsor Castle:
Welcome to Windsor Tourist Guides
Royal Windsor, on the banks of the River Thames, is home to the largest and oldest inhabited castle in the world - Windsor Castle, an official residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The best way to experience the sights of this ancient royal town is with one of our Blue Badge guides. Elite Blue Badge guides undergo two years of extensive training and represent the ‘gold standard’ of tourist guiding in the UK.
Windsor Tourist Guides will bring history alive, entertaining your group and showing you areas of Windsor that many tourists never see. All our walks are tailor-made: we will suggest a walk around your itinerary and your group’s interests. We do not do ‘off-the-shelf’ tours!
About Windsor Tourist Guides
Windsor Tourist Guides was founded by Amanda Bryett, an award-winning Institute of Tourist Guiding Blue Badge Guide.
With a lively interest in history, and the monarchy in particular, Amanda trained as an elite Blue Badge guide following a career as a communications manager.
Fully media-trained and a professional speaker, Amanda enjoys sharing her love of Windsor with groups ranging from corporate executives to families and schoolchildren. Having attended conferences all over the world during her 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry, she is well aware of delegates’ wish to escape for a fun, entertaining walk before a conference dinner!
A local resident for over 18 years, Amanda offers a fascinating insight into the history of Windsor as well as life today in the royal town. If she is unable to guide your group personally, Amanda will arrange for an equally experienced local Blue Badge guide to take care of your tour.
Clubs and Associations
Start point: we will meet your group at the coach park, Tourist Information Centre, or at a venue of your choice.
Finish point: to suit you.
Duration: 1–2 hours, according to your itinerary.
Group size: if you have more than 25 people we recommend more than one guide so that everyone can see and hear.
Highlights:
* The glorious 3-mile Long Walk at the back of the castle
* The tavern where William Shakespeare wrote ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor
* The house where Charles II’s mistress Nell Gwynn lived
The tour will be tailored exactly to you and your group. For example, last year we escorted the Charles Dickens Society around the town. With a little research, we discovered that he had stayed at a local hotel and met Queen Victoria. We found references to Windsor in his novel Bleak House and even in a short story that the group did not know about… so plenty of brownie points for us!
